My HP DV9000t with the nVidia GeForce Go chip recently started seizing up
when inserting movies (wmv, mpg) it previously had no problems with. I
thought it had to do with a service pack or a conflict with one of the myriad
of conversion softwares or codecs I have on my machine. I uninstalled just
about every other software, removed and re-installed video drivers, installed
modded video drivers, and uninstalled and re-installed MS Office. No luck.
Then I noticed the other computers I have that have only media player 10 had
no problems with the file. Rolled back to media player 10 and it fixed it.
I think this might be an nVidia driver issue since when I uninstalled the
video drivers completely the movies inserted fine. (and I tend to blame every
shortcoming of my rig on nVidia anyway so I need to be consistent)
Microsoft, can you fix this please?
Thanks,
Amy
