Inserting PDF into FrontPage Website

K

Kris

Hello all. I am trying to insert a (pdf) file into my webpage. I wanted to
set the page up where my viewers could click on a word and the (pdf) letter
would appear. I have tried to do this by hyperlinking the word and using the
address where it is stored on my computer. I have saved it in MY DOCUMENTS,
which showed up as a broken link when viewed on the internet. I also saved
the (pdf) file in my website files and in the file for the specific page I
wanted the (pdf) inserted in. When viewed it showed up as "requested files
exceeds 256KB." There has to be a way I can get the pdf to work. Please
help!

Think of your website as a "container."
Everything you want available to the public must live in this "container" when you publish your web.

So, import or copy and paste your PDF files into a location "inside" your web on your local machine.
Then create the links to the PDF files just like you would any other page or file.

Then "Publish" your web to the server.

I imported the PDF file into my webpage by using File, Import, Add Files
format. Then I hyperlinked a word and then published the webpage. When I
went to view it, a small box showed up that said "requested file exceeds 256
KB" instead of the letter I wanted. What am I doing wrong?

When I looked at the size of the file, it is 4.93 MB. I know this is a
large file, but is there anyway publish it anyway or make it smaller?

Sounds like your host has placed a size limit on files. I do not
think you will be able to condense a 4.93MB .pdf file down to 256KB,
except by splitting it into 20 or so smaller files.

That's a pretty big 'letter'...maybe you can optimize any images in it and try regenerating a smaller pdf.
