Inserting picture into a Publisher 2007 mail merge

I am having trouble adding a picture to a Publisher 2007 mail merge.
My data source is an Excel file, and I never had any problem with this
merge with Publisher 2003. Now it just shows up in the document as a
text box with the path in it instead of the actual photo. Thanks for
any suggestions!
