You're making it too hard. You need to delete the old pictures from the page
first, then from the web folder you have them in before *importing* the new
pictures into your web and inserting them on a page. Otherwise, you stand
the risk of having the wrong settings for the new images.
You'll need to check in Adobe to see whether the originals are RGB.
