Inserting pictures in table cell

I have created a 10 page, 2 column document that has a table with 2 columns
and 120 rows. It is a choir photo directory. When I try to add additional
rows (by inserting above or below an existing cell), in order to add people,
I have problems with the photos. Sometimes I can move a photo to anther cell,
or insert one with no trouble but other times the photos simply disappear
when I move them, or upon inserting them.. After they start disappearing I
can't always move a picture back to the cell where it originated without it
disappearing there. The photos are formatted to be in front of the text. Any
help would be appreciated.

I believe the photos would be better behaved if they were formatted to
be inline with text, but I would also question the size of the photo
files. IS the size of the Word document more than 10 MB? Using VIEW,
NORMAL instead of PAGE LAYOUT or change TOOLS OPTIONS so that picture
placeholders are used instead displaying the content of the photos.
They will still print, but Word won't have to spend all it's time
moving around pixels

Thanks for the advice Lisa. Still doesn't work. Yes, the file size is 17MB.
Does that make a difference?

Oops, didn't answer everything. The pictures are 60 - 70 KB jpg files. There
are 2 cells (2 columns), one with text and one with the pictures (no text.)
