Inserting Pictures in Word

When I try to insert a picture in a word document either by dragging or
using the insert function I get only a blank square. I tried
uninstalling and reinstalling with no success. Anyone have any ideas?

And your preferences->view (show) image placeholder is set/unset?

if removing the tick does not fix it, ask again with details of the
image file type, Word version and OS version.
