I am currently writing my PhD thesis and have been drawing several figures in
powerpoint and inserting them into my word document. I have been 'copying'
the powerpoint figure and then 'paste special'- 'picture' into my word
document. As a result my 42 page document is actually 14.8 MB in size. Can
anyone suggest how I can decrease the size of my file without changing the
actual content? (i.e., chaning format of the figures?). thanks.

Hi Lindsay,

What version of Word?

How many figures do you have in the Word document?

Are they full 'slide' page size?

If in Powerpoint you select a figure and save it from
Powerpoint to a graphics file, what size is a typical
graphic?

You may be able to reduce size by linking to the outside
graphics, but that can cause issues if you need to have
the document 'travel' to another user rather than just print.
