inserting powerpoint slides in a word document

Hi
I have created a word file, and a separate powerpoint file, the latter
of which includes path diagrams--several--that I would like to insert
in the document. I figured out how to do that, but find that the path
diagram is too small by the time I shrink it to fit in a paragraph.
How can I get some compatibility between programs in terms of font
size,look etc.? Thanks, Joy

Hi Joy:

The rule of thumb is "Use 10 point Arial or larger for all text in
PowerPoint". Then when drawing your diagrams, make sure PowerPoint is
zoomed to 100 per cent.

If you do that, the text will be displayed at 10 points if you insert the
slide at 100 per cent. If the 10 point text "looks too big" you are zoomed
in too far in PowerPoint and your picture will not fit if you try to insert
it.

As an alternative, draw a square in Word using Word's graphics, and drag it
to be the size you have available to insert your picture at that location.
Now copy the square and paste it into PowerPoint. Draw your picture so that
it fits entirely within the square, then remove the square.

A third alternative is to realise that Word and PowerPoint use exactly the
same graphics engine. Reveal your Drawing toolbar in W9ord and spend some
time exploring it. You may find that you can just as easily draw the
pictures directly in Word without bothering with PowerPoint. I recommend
that new users draw their pictures in PowerPoint because it is easier to
find the drawing tools in the powerPoint interface. However, it's exactly
the same graphics module called by both programs, so once you learn your way
around it, you can achieve almost exactly the same results in Word as you
can in PowerPoint. The exceptions are text rotation and transitions. Word
has less ability to rotate text and does not support transitions.

Hope this helps
