inserting screenshots- Word 97 vs. Word 2000

I use ctrl-printscreen and then ctrl-V to document my work both at work in
Word 2000 and at home in Word 97. Both computers run Windows XP. This
works perfectly at work under Word 2000; the pictures come out after the
last text line, and then I hit Enter to get a new line, and it looks great.
But at home under Word 97, it's totally different; large white spaces appear
between the last text and the screenshots, screenshots go all the way to the
bottom of the page, and the margins get messed up so the text sometimes goes
all the way to the right edge of the page! I vaguely remember a Word guru
at a previous employer helping me through the process of getting pictures to
appear in the right place, but that's been 5 years or so, and I can't figure
out how to do it now. Help! Thanks.

In Word 2000 and above, inserted and pasted graphics are (by default)
inserted/pasted In Line With Text. In Word 97 and earlier, graphics are
inserted/pasted "floating," that is, with a Square (or maybe In Front of
Text) text wrapping style. I forget how to get to the Format Picture dialog
in Word 97 (other than from the Format menu or the right-click shortcut
menu), but double-clicking on the picture probably opens it. On the Position
tab, clear the check box for "Float over text."
