Version: 2008 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger) Processor: Power PC Hi,
My question is: How do you insert a variable symbol in a cell?
(I'm doing a statistics table in APA format and need the greek character for eta squared.)

Is this what you mean? $B&G(B2 [assuming it survives the newsgroup :)]

The eta itself can be inserted from the Toolbox: Object Palette> Symbols -
Greek or you can use the OS X Character viewer. The 2 you have to type.

If you want the 2 to be superscripted select it either in the cell or in the
Formula Bar, then go to Format> Cells & check the Superscript box or use the
Superscript button in the Formatting Palette of the Toolbox
