Insertion of animated clip art in Entourage

Situation:
I teach college classes on-line. Heretofore, I have used a PC with
Outlook Express. It was simple to go to the web and pick up animated
clip art to insert in the lecture message. However, with the Mac OS
X, I can bring in the art and insert into the email text, but it will
not animate, only the 1st frame shows. Also, there is no control
over the size of the art object. With the PC, one could right click
and get the "flashing box" around the object and use the arrow /
crosshairs to increase or decrease the image.
Is this not possible with Entourage?
Would appreciate any suggestions as to how to get this application to
work.

PS: Microsoft does not have any suggestions, nor does Apple.
Thanks

Entourage does not send animated gifs. I guess Mail.app doesn't either. I
think Netscape probably does.

Mel,I found this on the internet

106) Does Entourage support animated GIFs?

Receiving GIFs: Animated GIFs do not animate in-line in Entourage. You will
have to open the file in a separate application like Graphics Converter to
see the animation. However, animation is supported in complex HTML.

Sending GIFs: If you need to send an animated GIF to someone, just compress
it first. Otherwise, Entourage just inserts the first frame of the GIF.

You can also make a Quicktime file from the animation. The file size is
obviously larger than a plain GIF but it's is a good way to make them more
transportable.

Background info:

Basically, it's like this. If the sender is sending a really fancy email
that includes tables or other things Entourage can't do, or includes
internally URLs of web page that needs to be viewed, it will force Internet
Explorer engine to render the message. So if it has an animated GIF as well,
it will be viewable as such. But if it is otherwise just a regular HTML
message with text formatting and some graphics, Entourage will render it
itself, and the GIF will not animate - you'll see just the first frame.

One of the consequences of Entourage being able to handle more varieties of
graphics, including _inserted graphics_ since Entourage X SR-1 is that fewer
HTML messages get passed to IE so fewer will show animated GIFs.

The short answer - there's no way to view them in most messages, and nothing
you can do about if they don't. You can console yourself with the fact that
animated GIFs are mostly junk and you're not missing much.

Just to clarify...

If you _attach_ an animated GIF it should get sent complete, whether or not
it is stuffed or zipped. If you _insert_ an animated GIF into an HTML
message, only the first frame will get transmitted.

MS are aware of this problem and it is listed in their bug database.
