Install 2000 Upgrade Issue

Wow, what a dillema.

Purchased and registered FP2000 upgrade version many years -- installed on
computer running FP 98 (used computer) -- and now wish to install on fresh
system running XP.

But do not have any MS programs that qualify the"up-grade" FP2000
installation. The old FP 98 key number info (although both programs are now
on hard drive running Win 98) is long gone. And I really need to get 2000 up
and running. It seems unreasonable to have to re-purchase full versions --
although I do wish to upgrade to 2003 once installed.

I wasn't entitled to the up-grade version in the first place since I wasn't
the registered owner of FP 98 even though I purchased the system and the
software as part of the bargain... the lesson is well learned.

What I need is the quickest way around this -- the upgrade version wasn't
much of a discount btw. It's seeking qualified programs to allow the
install.

Any input appreciated.

Well, the *quickest* way is to buy the program. The cheapest way is
probably to buy a used older (non-upgrade) version on ebay.
Incidentally, I have been keeping an original copy of FP97 for years
because I every time I buy a new computer, I first install fp97, then
the upgrade to fp2000 which I also keep and still use. Done this with
a laptop and 2 computers now.

Almost gave that 97 program away once -- would have been in your boat
now! Good luck.

Exactly... you got it.... I'm now going thru the attic where, like you, I
have "older versions" -- in fact bags of software...

Damn, that's where that Dos 3.1 on 5.25 disk ended up... whewwwww, that was
a close call.

FYI: You do not need to install the prior version ton install a MS Office upgrade
