Install Access 2000 and Office 2003

I need to install Access 2000 on a system also running Access as part of
Office 2003. I have read that I need to install the 2000 version first. I
removed the 2003 version before installing Access 2000 but get an error
message that:
"Required registry information is missing and this application cannot run.
Please rerun Setup to correct this problem"

I've tried this but it had no effect. What do I need to do next?

Why would you want to install the 2000 version when you have the 2003 version. You can download the reader to your Office 2003 Access and read the 2000 version files.

There were some problems when I installed it on the network. I want to try it
out fully on both versions and ensure it works before reinstalling on network
