Install difficulties with Office Home and Student 2007

I am having difficulties installing Office H&S 2007 on a brand new HP laptop.
I am running Windows Vista (64-bit).

I insert the CD and run the set-up file. Then I type in my product key and
click continue. I then click on install now. The next installation dialog
box appears and shortly after it pops up Vista then tells me that the program
has stopped working. I have even selected the custom install option and only
tried to install Word. All with no different results.

I was successful in getting the install to start running on an XP machine,
so I am not sure what the problem is with my laptop install.

This is my first venture with Vista, so maybe there is something that I am
not familiar with. Thank you in advance for the assistance.

You uninstalled the trial version first?
When you insert the cd, the installation should start automatically, you
weren't too impatient were you?
