Install discs requested for Office 2003

Office 2003 has been installed on a clean install of XP and user data copied
over to My Docs. After about a week, the user complained that when opening a
Word document from Explorer they are asked to insert an installation CD. We
checked all the Office apps after the install and they seemed fine so why is
the install disc now being requested and how doe we prevent the problem
recurring.

Probably something she's trying to use requires something that was set to
"install on first use" when installed. Put the disks in and let Word do its
thing.

To prevent it in the future, do a custom install and make sure everything
your users might need is set to "run from drive" instead.

Also make sure to leave the installation files on the harddrive after the
installation is complete. You should be prompted to either leave them or
remove them. Choose to leave them.
