Install exchange 2003 in child domain

Hello!

I have one domain "domain.com" and a child domain "xyz.domain.com"
I want to install exchange in the child domain, do I have to run domain and
forest -prep on both DC's? I tried to note run domainprep on "domain.com" but
then I got that I dont have any global catalog in "xyz.domain.com"

windows 2003
exchange 2003

crateful for all help and tips on installing on childdomain.
