I installed OfficeX on my new G-5, then tried installing either the
Handheld Sync Installer or the Value Pack Installer, and suffered a
puzzling install failure. Called Mac support, and technician
recommended I run DiskUtility. First run of DU repaired numerous
permissions, 2nd run resulted in fully clean bill of health (for G-5).
Trying to install either of those installers (which I'd had to "Force
Quit", or once entirely shut down G-5), or the Office X 10.1.2 Update,
after DiskUtility was run twice did not resolve the problem. The Mac
technician was fully puzzled and suggested I raised the issue here.
I have a 1.8 GHz G-5 (for odd reasons I cannot fully grasp, yet, I
prefer adding the hyphen) with 512 MB SDRAM, and have not experienced
similar install problems with any other software.
Help!! I'd LOVE to install the 10.1.2 update and the two which follow
(.4 and .5), as well as evade having to manually place the ValuePack
items in all the separate places they need to be to be useful!
Thank you very much,
Sincerely,
