Install of Access 97 can't start because there is no license

WayneM

I reloaded my Access 97 onto a new computer, which also
has office 2K for Word and Excel. When I try to start
Access I get the message, "Microsoft Access can't start
because there is no license for it on this machine."

I found an article that suggested to rename the hatten.ttf
file, which I tried, but still no luck. This combination
was running fine on my previous Win2K system. The new OS
is XP.

I would appreciate any suggestions,

Thanks,

WayneM

Hi, Wayne.

When you installed Access 97, were you logged in as an administrator or a
user with administrator permissions? If not, then the lack of permissions
likely prevented the license keys from being stored in your Windows
Registry. If this is the case, then you'll need to follow the instructions
for "No Read Permissions to Licenses Key" on this Web page:

http://support.microsoft.com/?id=141373

If this doesn't work, then you could try logging in as an administrator,
uninstalling Access 97, then reinstalling Access 97.

HTH.
