install of office xp on windows me (ERROR - MISCIEXEC.EXE)

I just got my brand new office XP and when I put the
install disk in the drive I get 2 errors:

"The MISCIEXEC.EXE file is linked to missing export
MSI.DLL:222"

and

"Cannot launch C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\msiexec.exe

A divice attached to the system is not functioning."

I don't know what these mean, my computer (including the
CD drive) is fully functional.

can anyone please throw me a line!
