I've installed Office Home & Student 2008 and I already had the 2004 version installed. Now I want to uninstall the 2004 version to free up hard disk space. Fonts, dictionaries, etc were not installed for the 2008 version and were left in the 2004 version by the 2008 installer. QUESTION: if I uninstall the 2004 version which items in the 2004 version are needed by the 2008 version and will be uninstalled...and how do I get them back?

There is really nothing but your custom dictionary file and some templates
like Normal that are needed.

What is your goal? Are you planning on doing a re-install of Office 2008?

This page covers using "Remove Office" and has links for manually removing
files as well.

I am not reinstalling Office 2008, but will use it instead of Office 2004.

When I installed 2008 yesterday I recall the installer informing me that
it would not install the fonts or the dictionaries, as they already existed
because Office 2004 was already installed. They are in the Office 2004
application folder, but not in the Office 2008 folder.

So if I now uninstall Office 2004 and the uninstaller removes the Office
2004 application folder it will also delete the fonts, dictionaries, templates, etc.

I don't need both versions on my hard drive, but I also don't want to delete
items that the new Office 2008 is using from the 2004 version.

Do you know if I delete Office 2004 that 2008 will still work properly?
