Install Office 2008 SP1 Update (12.1.0)

Processor: Intel

I am trying to install Office '08 SP1 (12.1.0). I was able to download the update no problem, went through the first several steps of the installation process. The installation however is now stuck on the installation step at the very beginning. It has not moved past "Preparing Office 2008 SP1 (12.1.0)" "Running AutoUpdate Installer Script" for an hour. This is the second time I have gotten stuck at this point (it ran for a 1/2 hour before I forced quit the first time). Any suggestions?

Did you quit all running applications first? A recent Apple security update
causes the script run by the installer to fail. It's window is probably
hidden. This problem was fixed in 12.1.1. See this article on the full
details.

Did you quit all applications before running the updater? The window to auto
quit all application is probably hidden. A security updater from Apple broke
SP1.
