install office2000

I have just installed office2000 on a computer that had windows98. When I
click on start it still shows windows98 and in control panel systems it shows
windows98 there too. I updated this computer so that we could get wireless
internet to it since it was my understanding that windows98 did not support
wireless connections. The wireless doesn't recognize office2000 being
installed, however word, excel, etc., are all office2000 versions when we
look at them individually.

New to computers?

Office and Windows 98 are two different things. Office is a program. Windows
98 is an Operating System. There is no reason whatsoever that installing
Office 2000 will change Windows 98. If you want to change your Operating
System, you need to upgrade to *Windows* 2000 or Windows XP.

Wow! Where do we start? Office 2000 is an application, Windows 98 is an
Operating System. Updating one has no effect on the other. Please get yourself
to a bookstore immediately and pick up a copy of "Computers for Dummies" or
"Windows for Dummies". And Godspeed!

In addition to what has already been said, Windows 98 Second Edition
does support wireless networking.

Did you buy Office2000 recently or did you manage to download it from
some pirate websites? It looks like you have been short changed!
Installations are normally automatic but we don't know how you are
trying to install!

did you know that the latest version is Office 2003. When did you
actually buy Office 2k? Why did you not install it when you first
bought it?
