Install Printer via UNC URL

I want to install a printer via a UNC URL on my Intranet site. When I create
the \\servername\printername it changes it to //servername/printername and
when I go to click on the link, I just get the page cannont be displayed
through IE 6.

Does anyone have any ideas on what I could do to get printers installed via
a web page?

You can't install printers that way. Instead write detailed instructions
on how to use the "Add new printer wizard" in Windows. Preferably with
screenshots. Make sure you have installed printerdrivers for all OS
versions you have on the Network so windows automatically install them
on the client. See the Help on the Server about how you add drivers.
