Install Problem Office 2000

W

Wayne

We had a system that would not boot this morning. We
reinstalled Windows 98.

After this, all MS Office 2000 products worked except MS
Access. A dialog says to wait while it installs MS Access
every time you launch MS Access. MS Access also does not
recognize an mde file. A dialog says the database is an
unrecognized format.

So I uninstalled Office 2000. Then I reinstalled Office
2000.

Same symptoms.

Any clues?

Thanks.

No reformat...

Uninstalling and reinstalling Office rarely does anything. Also, did you
reinstall the OS on top of itself, or did you reformat first?

if you hold down the shift key while right clicking an mdb file you can
choose to open it with the prog of your choice, if access is not in the list
you can browse to the office folder and select msaccess.exe, if that doesn't
help either let us know

Win98 and Office 2000

MS Access is installed. It is just that when you start MS
Access a dialog says to wait while it installs MS Access.
MS Access opens after this dialog.

When you try to open an mde file you get a dialog says the
database is an unrecognized format. MS Access will open
an mdb file.

Thanks.
