Hi Herman,

The DW20.exe file is the Microsoft Office Application Error Reporting
client. Very strange that the failed launch shuts down the installation.

Do me a favour and check the SQL Server to see if the the Projectserver
database has been created. If so, then delete the database (assuming
that your don't have anything in the database)

Can I safely assume that you have created 2 web sites in IIS? One for
WSS and one for PWA.

Also check to see if you can access the WSS web site via Internet
Explorer. If you can access the site then rerun the WSSWIZ.exe from the
Project Server CD.

Also check the Add/Remove Programs in the Control Panel to see if
Microsoft Office Project Server 2003 is listed. If so, then do an un-
install. Then do a reboot and try re-installing Project Server

Good Luck and let us know what happens

I'm experiencing the same problem when trying to install Project Server. We
have it set up between 2 servers:

Machine 1: Windows Server 2000 SP4, SQL Server 2000 SP4
Machine 2: Windows Server 2003 SP1, WSS

I'm also seeing an Error in the System Event Log that mentions that the
"Project Server Session Mgr Service service failed to start due to the
following error: Access is Denied." After this is when it appears to roll
back the install.

I've tried installing while logged in as 2 different admin accounts and get
the same error. I can verify that the ProjectServer database was created on
the SQL Server and I can access the WSS site in IE. I have 2 web sites in
IIS, the Default Web Site and Sharepoint Central Administration, I'm not sure
what the PWA site is. Project Server is not showing up in Add/Remove
Programs for me.

I have the "Microsoft Office Setup(0001)_Task(0001).txt" file, but it's way
too long to post here. It also seems to be referencing that it cannot start
the Pjsessionmgr service and that's when the rollback occurs.

Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

Scott.

We have the same problem installing Project Server 2003, the error
message is different. Did you have any progress resolving the issue?

Well, after working with both IBM and Microsoft support, we discovered that I
was getting this because I was trying to install on my E:\ drive instead of
the C:\ drive. In order to get the install to complete, I had to set up
Security for the LOCAL SERVICE user on the Project Server install folder.
This got me further, however, I had more problems when trying to get to the
PWA website. I decided to uninstall PRoject server and reinstall it on the
C:\drive and it is working much better now. Hope that helps anyone else
having problems.
