Install Voice Recognition on Office Pro 2007

I used Voice Recognition very successfully in Office Por 2003. This week,
when I installed Office Pro 2007, it removed 2003 and the accompanying Voice
Recognition. I can't find anywhere to install it again. Windows Control
Panel has Text to Voice, but no tab for Voice to Text.

Hi Jack,

The MS Office folks were obliged to return control of the Speech/Dictation software to the Windows team. For Office on Windows
Vista, that Windows product provides dictation. For Office on Windows XP, so far the Windows team hasn't released an update to do
the dictation.

Some folks have reported that they can do a custom install of Office 2003's Speech/Dictation and use it successfully with Office
2007, but others have had trouble doing so reliably.

You may want to also investigate 3rd party, dedicated dictation tools such as those on http://nuance.com

I have the same issue.

I had MS Works and MS Office 2003 work with Voice and Handwriting
Recognition.

Then my son needed MS Publisher, and so I ordered Student Edition Offoce
2007 and installed it on his Dell Laptop.

Things worked, mainly the Handwriting Recognition was used most of the times
but the Language Text Tool showed both Text and Voice Recognition.

But after working for 4 to 5 weeks, it swddenly stopped, and I tried
everything one can think of (I developed the First Web Server on NT 3.51 in
May 2005, at Pointcast using Wind Sock 1.1 which had a lot of limitations
for a Servers in Data Center that would pump 60% traffic to Internet in
1996/97).

What I have found is that when you log on, even after you have gone to
Registries and set tne enable for CTF Registry Keys for the relevant classes,
it still would go and reset the value. I tried going to the Local Registry
as well and enabling it.

There is a hidden place where the feature gets reset for MS Word 2007 and I
can not find where they are doing this.

I was motivated to fix it since it worked for many weeks based on MS 2003
Installation that was superceeded with MS 2007 Install.
