Install XP from transform

m mccoy

Our client created a transform to install OfficeXP unattended. This install
upgrades 97 to XP and has worked well so far. However, on some computers the
Office97 is installed on the d: partition, not c:. Will the transform
install to where 97 currently is and upgrade automatically or will it try to
install to c:? How can this be fixed if it needs to be?

Hi,

By default, Office XP will install to the same location as the previous
version. The CIW (Custom Installation Wizard) will do a default upgrade
unless you modify it. You can however specify what directory you wnat the
Office10 directory to install to. There will always be some files that will
install to the system partition no matter what. Typically that will be
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office10.
You can also choose what, if any, previous versions you want to have
removed. Remember that there can only be one Outlook!

As far as removing the previous version, this is also done by default. It
does not matter where the install was.
