Installation and location of MUD folder and database for multiple user account setup?

What is the best location to store the MUB folder when using a
multiple user account structure with Office 2004, Entourage 2004, and
Mac OS 10.4?

I have setup a multiple user account structure with Administrator,
Standard, and Guest accounts.

I am both the Admin and Standard user, but anticipate being in the
Standard user account on a daily basis.
I want to be able to access and work with the MUD file (the same
Entourage database and Identity) whether I am in the Admin or Standard
account.
I just want to maintain one MUD file for myself, not two different
files.

I don't want the Guest User to be able to access that Ent identity at
all.
I will either prohibit the Guest from accessing any Ent identity or
allow the Guest to access his own MUD folder in the User > Guest >
Documents folder.

What's the best place to LOCATE the MUD file for both the Admin and
Standard user to have access to one database file?

If I am using "Fast User Switching," will there be a problem in having
both the Admin user and Standard user working with the same Identity
file at nearly the same time?
Can there be simultaneous access..or will there be possible confusion
and corruption to the MUD file?
Will the "switching" process sufficiently control and allow the semi-
simultaneous access?

Additional Background facts:
I originally used the Admin User to install Office 2004 into the
Applications folder.
The installation installed a MUD folder in Users > Admin > Document
folder.
It didn't install a MUD folder in Users > Standard > Document folder.

If I am in the Standard account and then open Entourage, will it
create another (a second) MUD folder in Users > Admin > Document
folder or will it use the MUD folder in Users > Admin > Document
folder?
I'm assuming it will creat a new MUD folder.

If it uses the MUD folder in Users > Admin > Document folder, will it
always be having to ask for password permission from the Admin?

The Applications folder is a "shared" folder between all users.
Would it be better to locate the MUD folder in the Applications folder
(say, inside of a folder named "Microsoft Office database storage" and
placed outside of the "Office 2004" folder) and then place an alias to
that one MUD folder inside both the Admin's and Standard's own
Documents folder?

Also, the Shared folder is a "shared" folder between all users. Would
it be better to locate the MUD folder in the Shared folder, than the
Applications folder?

Would it be better to leave the original MUD folder in User > Admin >
Documents and only have one alias to it from the User > Standard >
Documents folder?

I'm assuming that, by using the Parental Controls, the Guest User
could be disallowed permission to access the MUD folder, even if it is
located inside the Applications or Shared folders.

Does anyone have experience with using the same MUD file with multiple
users on one computer?
On two computers?

Why not just let Entourage create the MUD folder in the non-admin
account and be done with it?

You should rarely, if ever, need to actually log into the administrator
account. You can install most software in the non-administrator account
and Mac OS X will simply ask you for administrator credentials in the
non-administrator account automatically. There's little need to ever
log into the administrator account - certainly you won't need to check
email there very often.

First, Entourage EXPECTS your data to be in your Documents folder inside the
Microsoft User Data folder.
If I am using "Fast User Switching," will there be a problem in having
both the Admin user and Standard user working with the same Identity
file at nearly the same time?
Yes
Can there be simultaneous access..or will there be possible confusion

No simultaneous access.
Will the "switching" process sufficiently control and allow the semi-
simultaneous access?

Just not a good idea.

User accounts are set up to keep things separate. You're tying to share
between Users defeating the purpose. Entourage is not going to like this
type of sharing either.

create another (a second) MUD folder in Users > Admin > Document
folder or will it use the MUD folder in Users > Admin > Document

It will create it's own Microsoft User Data folder.

Correct

Yes.

You could symlink the Microsoft User Data folder, but do so with caution.

Anything in Applications and Shared will be accessible by all Users.

We have users that put the Microsoft User Data folder on a pocket drive.

One user explains how they use this method:

I keep my Microsoft User Data folder on an external pocket firewire drive (a
large capacity USB thumb-drive will suffice if both machines have USB 2.0)
and just keep aliases to it in my Documents folder of all the machines I use
Entourage on (laptop, desktop and occasionally other machines I sit down in
front of for a few hours). Works like a charm and gives me an identical
environment on every machine.

You must quit the Microsoft Database daemon in order to eject the drive.

For security purposes, I have an Admin user account and a Standard
user account.
For most of each day, I'm in the Standard account using Entourage and
Safari.
However, when I'm installing appls or re-organizing the file structure
and names or researching computer problem, then I'm in the Admin user
account.

This is a highly suggested security structure for laptop users.
So I hope that Office 2008 will work better with multiple user account
on the same computers and with multiple computers as well.

When I'm in the Admin account, I'd like to be able to access all of my
notes and contact info that is in Entourage 2004. (I can't be
switching back and forth between the two users and entering many
passwords.)
And I'd like to have access to the one main Bookmarks structure that I
organized within Safari. I don't want to maintain two sets of
Entourage info and Safari bookmarks for the Admin user and Standard
user. (They are both "me", but with different security hats on.)
I just want one Ent database

What is a symlink?
An alias?

Entourage doesn't seem to work with or recognize an alias of the MUD
folder in the User > Documents folder.
It always seems to build and place a new MUD folder with Main Identity
into the Documents folder (of each user) if it doesn't already find
one there.

I read about this, but don't see how this person has actually got it
to work.
I don't think that Ent will recognize and utilize an ALIAS (located in
the User > Documents folder) of a MUD folder located on an external
HD.
(I think it will create a new MUD folder or Identity.)

I know, from my tests, that Ent does not seem to recognize and utilize
an ALIAS (located in the Admin User > Documents folder) of a MUD
folder located somewhere else on the same computer (for instance, in
the Standard User's > Document folder or in the Shared Users's
Folder).

Similar, but at a lower eel than the Macintosh aliases most are familiar
with.
Entourage doesn't seem to work with or recognize an alias of the MUD

It does! You can alias either the entire MUD folder, or just an identity
folder.
It always seems to build and place a new MUD folder with Main Identity
into the Documents folder (of each user) if it doesn't already find
one there.

If a new folder is being created, it is because your alias is not named
exactly right - it must be named precisely 'Microsoft User Data' (without
the quotation marks), or exactly the me as he identity it replaces.
