Installation Failure

I had an error code: 0x80070641 show up awhile back and have had failed
updates for Office 2003, Works, etc. since. I have been trying to correct
the error with http://support.microsoft.com/kb/818018/en-us, but now it
directs me to http://support.microsoft.com/kb/192926/ How to perform
clean-boot troubleshooting for Windows 98. Will someone tell me what to do
since I have Windows XP?

I have the same problem and would like to know if you have solved your
problem. Have Windows XP also and same error code
