Installation issues with Outlook to OneNote

I am having issues installing outlook to onenote and was wondering if someone
can help me.

I am running Outlook 2003 SP1, OneNote SP1 on Windows XP Pro SP2. I have
installed .net framework 1.1 for outlook as recommended. When I bring up
outlook after installing the powertoy, I get the following error message:

The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is not
available.

Click OK to try again or enter an alternate path to a folder containing the
installation package "Send to OneNote from Outlook.msi". I

've tried to look for the installation package in
C:\Doc~\UserName\LOCALS~\Temp directory but without success. Can someone help
me? Thanks!

I had the exact same problem. Couldn't locate the downloaded file either.
Then, at one point, the icon appeared on Outlook's toolbar. It worked on a
couple of mails I exported but, tehen nothing. Now, even the OneNote icon
dissappeared from the toolbar and is nowhere to be found. I feel there is a
huge bug there. If anyone has any suggestion ,I will appreciate it.

I saw basically the same thing, closed and opened Outlook 2003 a couple
times, then restarted the system (Tablet PC) and the icon has been there
since. I would suggest, especially with XP SP2 you the system, that a
couple restarts may be necessary for everything to start falling into order.

In my case, I coulnd't complete the installation! It would retry for 3 times
and then exit the installation. I am still back in square one. Any other
ideas? Thanks!

Try extracting the msi file from the zip file, save it to your desktop, and
doubleclick to install from there. Someone here recommended that and it
worked for me for both Powertoys.

I'm having the same problem as described in this thread with installing this
PowerToy. How do you extract the MSI file from the ZIP file? There is no ZIP
file to begin with. The PowerToy downloads as an EXE file (and I can't find a
way to extract any MSI files from the Outlook2OneNote.exe file).

Any suggestions on overcoming this problem are appreciated.

Best Regards, Phil

If you have WinZip, just right click on the exe file and choose extract to
here or pick a folder to extract to. You will get the msi file. Double click

I'm using a third party Zip program, called Flzip. I just couldn't see the
MSI in the EXE file. I downloaded WinZip and tried it there and I had no
problems extracting the MSI program. Go figure...

I then had to go through a number of gyrations to get the Outlook plug-in
installed. I finally got it to work, but it took for ever for it to show on
the toolbar. I got around it by adding the COMAddIns button in the Outllook
toolbar, reinstalling the onenote plugin and then selecting it from the
COMAddIn toolbar. When I restarted Outlook, the OneNote button was on the
toolbar and I could then remove the COMAddIns button. Whew, what a hassle. It
took for ever to get this going, but in trying out the OneNote button in
Outlook, I believe it was worth the hassle...

Best Regards, Phil

Thanks for the feedback.
