Installation of Frontpage Only

B

Bob

I just got a new computer that has Office 2002 Pro on it.
It does not have Frontpge. I hve a full version of Office
2000 that has Frontpage and would like to install
Frontpage 2000 only. If I unselect all other modules in
the Office 2000 install program, can I safely install FP
without messing up the Office 2002 programs?

Thanks.

It is usually best to install oldest to newest first and patch the oldest to
avoid conflicts. However, you can deselect all programs except Front Page
and install only FP. I would, however, patch Office XP first to avoid
installer errors.

Milly,

I'm a little unclear re: your comment "patch Office XP
first to avoid installer errors". My Office 2002 has all
of the available patches from the Office website
installed. Are you saying that after I install the
Frontpage 2000 files to check for patches again (which I
intended to do)? Or are you saying something else?

Thanks.

I am saying that patching Office XP prior to installing FrontPage 2000 will
avoid conflicts in installer versions. If it is already patched, then you
can ignore that statement.

You did not say in your original post if you had already installed all of
the Office XP patches yet.
