Installation of MS office 2003 on MS VISTA (error 1335 -cab file)

Dear all
I just bought a computer with VISTA. I am trying to install MS Office 2003
(professional) and I am getting this error message. I am surprised because
the disk does not seem to be damaged. Do you have any suggestions?
Is it perhaps a bug in the VISTA? I have other programs transferred to the
new computer from W XP without any problem.

Thanks,
Luis Barbosa

Did your computer come with a trial version of Office? If so you need to
uninstall it and the activation assistant before installing 2003.

Hello Michael.

Yes, I uninstall the trial version loaded in the new computer after I got
for the first time the error message.
It did not work after that as well.

Cheers,
Luis

Hi Peter,

Thanks for the reference.
I will try to dowload the updates.
I installed other problems with the anti-virus running (no problems).

Indeed this is the error I get (well only the error 1335 followed by cab
file error).

Cheers,
Luis

Hi Peter,

I updated my VISTA and tried again to install my office 2003.
I got now another error, which is 2349 and 2350. It sounds to me that
it is something indeed related to the install program, as indicated in the
reference you gave. Do you have any other suggestion?

Cheers,
Luis

Dear All,

I managed to work around this problem.
I needed to modify the setting of max memory in the boot.
Then I installed the complete version.
Everything works well.
There is a reference for that in the office Q&A's

Regards to all,
Luis Barbosa
