So, I painlessly installed Off:mac 2008 on my MacBk Pro and then tried to install on my husband's tabletop. It asks for username and passwd. His or mine? We tried a couple of combinations. It said "Nah-nah! Come back later!" Help? Yours, PLM

To get some help, you need to be specific about what is happening and the
text of the error messages. From your description it sounds like the
installer is asking for the administrator's password. In this case it is
your husbands. If this does not work, tell us the text of the error message,
what you did, and what happened in response.

Hi,
My installation isn't going so smoothly. I'm trying to install the 2008 upgrade on my MacBook Pro and the installer is asking for my password. I'm assuming it is the administrator password, but I either don't remember that one or I've never written it down, etc. How do I recover that password so that I can continue installation? Thanks.

Perhaps this will work for you James, but otherwise you may need to get some
help from the Apple site:

Got to Apple Menu> System Preferences - Accounts, select your
[Administrator] account (if you have more than one set up), then click the
Change Password button. If you took advantage of the option when you created
your password there will be a Password Hint there which hopefully will jog
your memory:)
