Installation on a USB Drive

I have ON 2003 installed on two computers and move my work from one to
another by storing the One Note file on a usb drive. Is it possible to
do the same with ON 2007 without wrecking all the links, etc.?

Yes this is possible! Just store your notes on a USB stick/drive and
OneNote will sync your notes without any problem.

Folks,
Did this scenario work in ON2003? I want to introduce OneNote to the other
teachers at my school in a demo at our last Faculty Meeting. Many would
benefit from the use of USB keys to bring the files to their classrooms.

I am guessing that it did but I want to be cautious about promising anything
that some users can report had glitches.

BTW, anyone knowing good demo resources like Chris Henderson's (right last
name?) video OneNote 2003 demo on the MS site -- please pass them along. I
will put contact info in my profile if it's aloowed on the forum server. The
more teachers adopt this the easier our communication will be. Unfortunately,
most of my colleagues are not technically experienceds and some are downright
technophobic.

Even more complicated, I would like to install the OneNote 2007 software
programme on either a USB stick or external hard drive - we are not allowed
to have beta software on our computers and this would get around the problem
until 2007 is released. Any suggestions to operate OneNote off an external
source?

This would still be running beta software on your work computers. As a
former network manager, there is no way I am going to assist you in
getting past rules imposed by your administrator. Install it on your
personal machine. Your work machine belongs to your company and as such
they get to decide what you do with it.

If you are allowed to install MS Virtual PC on your machine and have a
licensed copy of WinXP to spare, you could do that. Then the beta
software would be contained in the virtual PC. For the link to download
it for free, see the blog post on my website.

Good idea. And then the beta couldn't screw up things for the
administrator.
