Installation registry settings

Jeff Hall

I am writing a WISE installation script to install a Word application
template.

Can anyone tell me what are the equivalent registry settings in versions of
Word after XP? These are the setting I already know:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\8.0\Common\Filenew
\LocalTemplates

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\9.0\Common\General
\UserTemplates

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\10.0\Common\General
\UserTemplates

I assume that Word 2003 is just as before bust with "\11.0\"
or is it version 12.0?

Alternatively, is there a more robust way of installing a template into the
user template folder that would be valid for future (as yet unreleased)
versions of Word.

No-one?

Can someone with a copy of Word later than XP please check the registry
setting for me please? (using Regedit)

Running Office 2003 under Windows XPSP2, it's

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\11.0\Common\General
\Templates

not \UserTemplates

Then there is

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\11.0\Common\General
\SharedTemplates

that contains the path to the Work Group Templates location set under
Tools\Options\File Locations
