My laptop hard drive died and I had to get a new one. I installed Vista,
then installed Office 2007. When using the wizard to set up Outlook, I
mistakenly put in the wrong email server. When I open Outlook, I get an
error message that says "The connection to microsoft exchange is
unavailable. Outlook must be online or connected to complete this action."
When I close the message, up pops the Microsoft Exchange window, showing
the server address. If I correct the address and click apply, and ok, I
get a new error message. It says "Cannot open your default email folders.
The file C:\xxxxxxxx is not an offline folder file."
When I close this message, Outlook closes. And it becomes wash, rinse,
repeat. I open Outlook again and this starts over.
I tried uninstalling Outlook/Office and everything else I could think of,
and reinstalling. Blasted thing remembers and picks up where it left off.
So whatever file was created as part of the installation process was not
deleted and still exists! Does anyone know what that file would be and
where it would be found? I figure if I can get rid of it, I can start a
clean installation process.
Thanks in advance for any help.
