Installation

Question,

I have a test version of project server running, i did a standalone
install and got project server working.
I have now come to build my production enviroment, I have installed
the web font end and then pointed it to my database server. I have
then gone to the sharepoint - operations - Service on Server but there
is no project server service? what am i missing?

Project Server does not run as a SharePoint service in 2007, although this
will be the case in the next version. Can you specify your installation
method? Have you run the SharePoint Configuration wizard? Are you following
the TechNet installation guidance? This will help you in a very big way!

All I have done is installed a webfront end only option onto the
server that will host PWA\ then configured sharepoint to store the db
on my database server.

I think you should study the installation documents on TechNet, and post any
questions you have along the way, should you get stuck. This is no simple
installation. A basic installation in our book Implementing and
Administering book spans two chapters and more than 200 pages with
illustrations.
