Installed Microsoft update and all my email disappeared

Version: 2008
Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)
Email Client: pop

I did an update to Microsoft Office 2008 and when I restarted my computer all my emails that were on Entourage disappeared. I did have a new "Welcome to Entourage" email, as if this were the first time it were used. No, I didn't have a back-up of my email (as I don't know how to create one, other than using Time Machine, which I didn't buy).
Thanks for any help you can come up with!!

Unfortunately, didn't work.
I really just did an update, it told me to restart, I clicked on Entourage to check my e-mail before bed and everything was gone. The next morning I looked through Finder trying to find a recovery, backup or something. I did try the identity switch (and just tried it again to be sure). I think I'm just screwed. I was hoping this type of thing just wouldn't happen on a MAC. I do realize it was a Microsoft error, not my MAC's - still has same end result.

Do Spotlight searches for files names 'Microsoft User Data' or
'Identity' or 'Identities.' It really has to be somewhere.

Thanks for trying to help. When I search for those things, everything listed has a date of yesterday or today - everything older is just gone. I may not do any more updates.

Did you restart after updating? Did you verify that you actually updated?

What size if your database file. It's possible a rebuild will fix your
problem.

Adam's pointer is good, but I have another question-are you logged in as
the same Mac OS X account that you used when you had all your email?

I keep a couple of accounts with similar names and identical passwords
and have accidentally chosen the wrong account at login and panicked
when I didn't find all my documents present.

In my case the two accounts were pretty much clones of the other with
the difference being data content (desktop docs, email, etc.).

Let us know how things turn out.

Thanks.

Cheers,
Jon

help - the same has happened to me! I did an update, and when opened entourage the set up assistant opened, to help me re-setup everything. My database file is there in my 2008 Identity, but it does not show the files in entourage, and won't allow me to import.
Any suggestions would be most appreciated.
thanks

Have you checked

as Adam suggested earlier in this thread?
