Installed Ofc Stand 2007and now OE Spell Check Is in French

I recently uninstalled Office 2000 and installed Office Standard 2007 on an
XP. Wrote a msg in Outlook Express and spell checked. The result was what
looked mostly like French but might have been mixed with English.

I went to OE>Tools>Options>Spelling. In Language I have "French (France)"
displayed. I clicked the down button expecting to find an English option but
there are no other options, only French (France).

I then checked a Vista computer with OS 2007 and an XP computer with Office
2000. Both offer multiple languages in the Language box.

I also checked the languages in Outlook Explorer and Word. Both seem to have
English settings.

Is this Language box the problem? What happened and what do I do to fix it?

Thanks

Upon closer look, the spell check might be suggesting a variety of
languages.

Hi Janter,

MS Office 2007 changed to new English proofing tools but the Windows/IE folks who own Outlook Express have not made the change to
Outlook Express to work with them.

The workarounds are to keep part of an older version of Office installed or to use one of several 3rd party apps to add spell check
in English to Outlook Express.

A. Vampirefo Spellchecker for Outlook Express:

B. Tinyspell: (has separate U.K. English module if needed)

Thanks Bob,

But that sucks. I have been pretty much a defender of MS, but that sort of
stuff makes it more difficult.

I still have the Office 2000 disk. Which would be better? To reinstall it or
go for suggestion A?

Thanks

Hi Janter,

Personally, I'd try the 3rd party tool. Even a partial installation of an earlier version takes more space and the older Office
version will be 'seen' for updates that may not be needed otherwise, although not too many for the Office 2000 version :)
