Installed Office 12.2 Update, Entourage Won't Launch

Entourage will not start since I installed the 12.2 update today. Help!

I haven't had any problems and I think it might launch a bit faster.
Word definitely launches faster.

Just installed the 12.2 UPDATE (?!)
and now Entourage will not open

Other MS Apps are fine

Any suggestions?!

The read me says if you have problems, run the installer again.

If your Entourage worked before the update, I would use the TM
to get back to what worked then run the installer again.

The 12.2.0 worked on mine on the first try and everything seems to
be working perfect

I am using TM and have gone back to yesterday and replaced Entourage
No Luck?
There must be more to replace other than the application

You don't replace Entourage you replace the entire Office 2008 folder in
Applications.

I was not running the beta...

Ok... I restored the Office folder from Time Machine and confirmed that all of the programs ran correctly. That was successful. Then I ran the 12.2.0 update installation again, and had the exact same results: all programs work perfectly except that Entourage won't launch. So I'm restoring from Time Machine again and will stay on 12.1.9 until there is a resolution for this.

Were you running the EWS beta?

And do you get some sort of warning telling you the database can't be
opened??

I'm not sure indeed that an identity created with the EWS beta is meant
to be opened by a "regular" version (though you'd have to ask through
the beta program, but I fear it might be the case).

Same issue - it was working for a day, but stopped working this afternoon. Entourage was open, then the spinning wheel kicked on and now it won't launch all the way. It is reading 100.2 CPU usage in Activity Monitor.

"My Day" gives a crash error every time on system launch and has to re-open after sending error report.

No TM backup to fall back on, so

Removed Office 2008, deleted preferences. Reinstalled from disc and ran 12.1.0 SP1 update. Still having same issue - Entourage freezes after launch - status @ bottom of window "Messages remaining to be sent: \ \ \ \ \" - and nothing happening. Spinning wheel of death...

Having the same issue here. Unfortunately no TM on the affected machine.

Okay, here's the issue and the resolution according to MS tech support:

Issue: update install is looking for a symbol file it can't find.

Fix: completely uninstall Office including all associated library files (ok to put identity files on desktop so they can be restored). The do a fresh install and go through all updates.

A bit of work, but that works.
