Installed Office 2003, now Windows Media Encoder codec problem

N

NuQ

I've been using Windows Media Encoder for months now on my WinXP Pro OS.
Suddenly, I get an error when starting WME. It says "You must have audio
codecs installed in order to use this application".

Well, after using the Restore options, I've discovered Office 2003 is the
culprit. I installed Office 2003 a couple of days ago and notice WME error
today. Like I said, if I restore to before Office 2003, it works. If I put
the system state back after Office 2003 was installed, no go.

I've searched Google and maybe it has to do the PowerPoint part of Office?
I tried poking around in PP, but can't find any clues.

Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated. Or point me to a more
appropriate group and I'll ask there.

Hi Derg,

Yes, the folks in the Powerpoint newsgroup (links below)
would likely be a good resource for Codec issues. There
was one similar to this that came up a week or so ago
if I recall.
