installed updates, now auto-entry email addresses have gone, help

last night, microsoft installed new updates on my computer and now i have a
major problem.
When in outlook, I could just type the first few letter of somebodys
email/name in the "address" field and it would populate it for me (or give me
a drop down box to select from) - now this does not happen.

A) how do i get all of my old email contacts back ?
B) how can i turn this feature back on ?

I"m having a similar problem in OL2K3 when a "System Undeliverable" error
occurs... whoever I was trying to send to no longers recalls/"auto-fills" in
the recipient fields. Any thoughts??
