Office 2000, Windows XP, up to date patches
I recently upgraded my internal HD. It went well, except
that now when I start Word or Excel, the external drive I
had been using for primary storage spins (despite that I
now have all my data on the new internal drive), and the
Windows Installer starts. Other Office apps work fine.
I followed the instructions in the KB artical 265194
OFF2000: Windows Installer Appears Every Time a Program
Is Started http://support.microsoft.com/?id=265194. I
ran the Repair option from the Office 2000 CD. Neither
had any affect.
The programs appear to run fine otherwise. If I cancel
the Windows Installer, I get a message that
says "Microsoft Word 9.0 An error occurred and this
feature is no longer functioning properly. Please run
Setup and select "Repair..." to restore this application."
Any suggestions?
