installing 2000 in XP Home Nightmare. PLEASE HELP

Once upon a time I had my office 2000 installed on Windows XP home edition system and it worked fine. Unfortunately, I had copied the 2 part disk of office 2000 should the orginals ever be lost or destroyed. Well my originals were sat on and broken in half forcing me to rely on my backup disks. Since having to restore my system I lost the office 2000 and for some reason cannot reinstall office 2000 to my XP system. I put the first disk in and the install wizard or frontpage giving the option to install doesn't come up. Im not sure if I did something wrong while recording them or if some XP update ive done has made it impossible to retrieve or install office 2000. I can search the D drive and pull all files except the install wizard, but it won't auto play it says this is not the correct disk, I've tried loading disk 2 in first and it tells me the same thing. Can anybody help? I need my office 2000 since I am a student and use it frequently and can't afford buying a new one. Thanks so much for any help someone could offer me.

Run a search on Microsofts web site for replacement of lost/damaged media,
there is a page telling you how to contact them for replacements.
But remember not to tell them you tried to copy the original CD's, they
might get a bit upset about it!
