Installing 2000 software into an XP system

My query is:

Can I load and run 2000 software onto an XP windows
machine. If so what are the problems?

That is interesting Cheryl,

I just tried to install Office 2000 on an XP Home box, and
I got an Error 1933 The Windows Installer service cannot
update one or more protected files. I assume these are
administrator files, but there is nothing unusual about
this PC. Is there an Administrator version in XP, like
2000 and NT?

Microsoft's knowledge base doesn't list a 1933 error, that
is why I am here.
