Installing Access

Paul Richardson

Hi - I have office XP which I'm deploying from an admin installation. I have
deployed word excel and ppoint to all users using an MST and want to deploy
access to some users but not others. Can anyone suggest the best way of
doing this ??

Paul,

The custom maintenance wizard is the tool for this scenario. You can find
all the necessary details on the Office Resource Kit.

Hope this helps.

If Office is already installed on some machines (with, for example, Word,
Excel and PPT only) then you can use the CMW to <add> Access from the Office
administrative installation point to these same machines. You would only
need to run the CMW on the machines to which you need to add Access.

If Office is <not> already installed on a machine then you should create a
different transform file that includes (for example) Word, Excel, PPT, and
Access.

Hope this helps.

Hi Greg,
Do you mean I can use the CMW to install access on some users PCs while
continuing to use the admin installation to install office without access on
other PCs ?

Cheers
