Installing Business Contact Manager on a Win 2003 Server -DC

I was able to install Outlook & Business Contact Manager on my Windows 2003
Server, Domain Controller (then rebooted). But I got error messages when
trying to share the Business Contact Mgr Database with other computers. Am I
allowed to share the database from a Win 2003 server, or from a DC?
Thanks for any help,

Techincally it should work, but everything needs to be configured
correctly.

Things to check:
Is there a firewall on machine blocking the BCM tcp port?
Have you tested the same domain user using bcm on the server and on the
client? If the user works on the server but not on a client, then the
user permissions are probably ok and you have a problem connecting to
the database.

I am attempting the same thing. When I select a couple of users from the
domain and attempt to share, I first get the following error when I check "I
still want to share..." and click next.

"There are no more endpoints available from the endpoint mapper"

However, clicking on next again gets past that error then I add a could of
users from the domaoin.

I get the following error in the share wizard/UI when I click on finish.

"an error occured while applying changes your changes have not been applied
successfully"

It gets worse.... I attempted to share the BCM database on an XP SP2 laptop
and while I don't get the end point error, I did get :

"an error occured while applying changes your changes have not been applied
successfully"

I looked at a number of postings on "Issues Sharing BCM Database", but
frankly none of them supply answers to this or my previous post.

And even found the w06_sharing.pdf, but nothing on these topics.

Does sharing work?

For reasons unknown to man, when I re-attempted (next day) to share the BCM
database on my XP laptop it worked....

As to the W2003 domain controller - was as simple as going into services,
enable/start the windows firewall/Internet Connection Sharing service and
then re-attempting.

Apparently this service can be stopped once sharing is working

Hi,

I'm getting the same problem as neil but when trying to start windows
firewall/Internet Connection Sharing service on sbs 2003 i get an error 170:
The requested resource is in use"

any help?

Any more details in the event log?

I don't expect BCM will be using any firewall resources.

Note, that running the firewall makes it more difficult to share
because you need to open BCM's TCP port in the firewall. If the
firewall is not running, then all ports should be accessible (provided
the rest of the tcp/ip stack and port mapping utilities are running).
