I have two computers. I installed a new email account using the IMAP server
on one machine. That resulted in a data file with the file name
Outlimap.gmail.com-00000007.pst.
I copied all the .pst folders from that machine over to my laptop because I
have serveral archive .pst folders that I want to be able to access. I was
also concerned whether the current .pst folder would have all the emails that
the current folder on the first machine had. When I tried to set up new
email accounts using the IMAP server on the second machine, it created a data
file with the file name (e-mail address removed) - 00000000025.pst. When I
tried to create an email account looking to the same 00000007.pst data file
that the other machine looks to, it created a data file with the file name
Outlimap.gmail.com - 00000007.pst-000000026.pst. Both the 0000000025.pst and
the 000000026.pst files only have an inbox and seem to have all the emails in
their inboxes.
At the same time, a imap.gmail.com - (e-mail address removed) folder appeared on
its own and the underlying data file is the one with the 00000007.pst ending.
This is where my labels show up. It also has a Sent Items folder and a
deleted items and outbox folders. I was under the impression that IMAP files
/ accounts did not have deleted items folders, but rather struck through
items you wanted to delete and left them in the inbox.
How do I get the Inbox from the 25.pst or 26.pst files together with the
other folders under the 7.pst file? Does this mean it is not necessary to
create email accounts on the second machine? An IMAP folder will just
appear. Or, is an email account necessary on the second machine, but it will
never be looking to the same file as the email account on the first machine?
