It wasn't an OEM version, but it was a student/teacher one, 2002 version. I
have been told that you can only load these 3 times - and it has certainly
been installed at least that number of times since purchase - twice onto a
desk top and once onto a laptop.
I am at a loss to understand what to do about it! I need someone to lead me
gently through the computerspeak you all seem to understand!
My computer was from Dell - bought last year, and so they replaced the hard
drive under guarantee. They told me they wouldn't touch the hard drive when
they took the computer away, and then changed their minds. I kicked up a
stink, so they sent me back the old hard drive as well as loading a new one
into my base unit. It's now sitting in a caddy, plugged in to my base unit -
and strangely enough works perfectly...... However, though I have managed to
install all the other programs onto the new hard drive, I can't install
Office XP - it just refuses to do it!!
Dell tell me its nothing to do with them, because its my software, not some
they supplied. Microsoft tell me its nothing to do with them either, because
my licence has expired!!! Unless I cross their palms with silver of
course.... but I figure I might as well buy a new Office 2007 instead of
paying someone to tell me to do just that!
So do any of you nice people out there know a way to help?
