installing Microsoft xp Office standard for students and teachers

Mark Cerwinka

Have HP Pavilion with windows 98 and then updated a couple
days to windows 98 second edition. Here's my problem:
when trying to install office xp standard a couple of
error messages come up. 1. sytem lacking "core system
and data access components" and 2. when running the
install program I got the following error
message: "C:\windows\system\ASYCFILT.DLL is version
2.40.4275.1 when we require version 2.40.4277.1" Please
someone tell me what this all means. Do I have to buy
windows 2000 professional or windows XP to make the office
xp for students to run or should I just buy office 97
somewhere and get by? All I want is the basic office
including word, excel, powerpoint. Thanks anyone for
their help.

Hi Mark,

It works on Windows 98 and Win 98SE. :) See if this
article helps with the error you're getting.
